EAMO is a fantastic Australian illustrator whose work has a certain funky realism that we find very attractive. In this new online 'folio, this Aussie art child shows us more than one style—ranging from cartoonish kids to saucy sex bombs with haunting dark, mysterious eyes. Appropriately, these 20 pages of illustrations are all presented on the side of an illustrated milk carton—which in the U.S.A. had at one time been a space reserved for showing pictures of missing children.... An engrossing showcase of photo-illustrated design, wispy graphics, explosive compostions and the random skull, graffiti tag, or rainbow next to a beautiful model. Sure it's trendy, and nothing you haven't really seen before... or is it? On closer inspection, the work of Drew Flaherty goes an extra step, breathing in more detail into each inch of design, and producing a rich tapestry of different styles that together evoke quite a beautiful, mystical quality. Who needs substance when you can have visual satisfaction and a lingering emotion that makes you think, je ne sais quoi? There are nuggets in this mountain of multidiscipliary work... you just have to dig deeper.... More
Primarily an exhibition artist, Evan Hecox has a smallish portfolio, but the pieces that form his online presence are tight. This guy knows what he's doing. The messages are rich and well balanced, although its sometimes difficult to know exactly what Mr. Hecox is trying to sell. Frankly, we find this a refreshing and novel situation in the current land of graphic art.... More
