Vanda Marasan

Vanda MarasanA nice little online portfolio for this graphic designer from Toronto, Canada. Vanda's portfolio shows some nice print and magazine work, and has an appealing large format presentation style. Clean, minimal work from a classic graphic designer.... More

Philippe Archontakis

Philippe ArchontakisYou would be hard pressed to remove any more items from this clean minimal Flash portfolio presenting branding and web work from this Montreal based Art Director. Clearly, Phillipe's strength lies in designing identities, logos, and collateral for his clients... And you could even say his forte is "the boss", meaning the embossing feature found in many of his business cards. But don't let that overshadow (pun intended) his solid screen designs which display a strong talent for Flash programming, animation, and interface design.... More

Paprika

PaprikaPaprika is a Canadian graphic design firm with a strong reputation in creating brand identites, packaging and print collateral. On their site, as in their stationary, we see hints of a toned down identity which involves the repetition of words, forming a light minimal texture and suggestion of a bar code design. Their technique is modern, yet marketable, meaning that it is both refined, yet approachable – perfect for high-end and luxury clients – and inside these pages you'll find a portfolio of print projects whose appearance is quite professional.... Organic

OrganicAs one of the few large firms that survived the iBubble (as we like to call it), Organic has shown how adapting and changing into a full service digital media firm can be successful, given the right environment. Their work these days is focused largely on the auto industry with development of Jeep and Dodge sites coming from their strong relationship with DaimlerChrysler (as of this posting). But with 5 offices in the USA and Canada, Organic is a big presence in the world of online media—and with unique marketing advancements like their "persona rooms" and "experience labs", they continue to lead, not only in experience, but with their branding "experiences".... Marian Bantjes

Marian BantjesA typographer and illustrator extraordinaire, Marian's work harks back to the ornamental styles of illustrated manuscripts and hand-crafted type. Reminiscent of the days when crafts-persons really went through the painstaking details of, well, creating painstaking details! Marian combines great line work and flourishes with an exacting eye for type forms to make unique and invaluable typography and art.... More

Manicomio Design

Manicomio - meaning insane asylum in Italian - is a new firm from Vancouver specializing in print, clothing, and product graphics. Why 'Manicomio'? Because they claim to provide a sanctuary for their clients and prescribe design remedies. Well, they definitely have a full blown portfolio to prove their case. In fact, the extensive portfolio provides a veritable case history, showcasing every final product in full photographic glory. Yes, this is the kind of design company that can even make their competitors a little crazy... Crazy jealous.... More

Gregory Durrell

Gregory DurrellIn a simple linear "book" format (on a website aptly named Xrtions) Gregory leads us through his outstanding graphic design projects created from 2004-2006. The typography, posters and print designs comprise a collection of client, personal and some school projects. A lot of the more social/political work comes from working as a graphic designer for a non-profit charity in Toronto called War Child Canada. A designer who is both socially responsible and extremely talented... well, watch out world!... More

FluffCo

Graphic design that feels like a visit to a not-as-wealthy-as-they’d-have-you-believe distant relative’s cabin at the lake – right down to the wood paneling. This collaborative effort by two fine art degree carrying designers is a good choice for basic website design and print advertising with an ‘organic’, laid-back feel and a slightly discordant nature. Not a first choice but probably a good fit for the needs of the “small to mid-sized clients” (they measure their clients?) the “creative partnership” cater to.... More

Departement Design InteractifBuilt up of a three-man team, and located in Montreal Canada, studio DDI seems to be a synergistic team of talents whose work is clean, creative, colorful and captivating. Their work tends to bleed towards motion and video when possible, but their talents are rooted in incorporating all new media into cohesive, collaborative online concoctions. Quite nice!... More

Critical Mass

Critical MassCritical Mass's full-bleed, animated portfolio captures the full-on sizzle of professional portfolio site. Released in early 2008, this site is still making waves in agency circles, and will probably be one of the more emulated portfolio designs before the end of the year... Of course, it helps to have an established list of high-end clients, but it's amazing how far a cool redesign with large scale photos, and some magic Flash pixie dust, can go towards making a firm look hip and desirable (Hint: check out the previous portfolio design). Very slick upgraded site for this USA, UK and Canadian-based interactive firm.... More

Crash!Media

Crash!MediaCrash!Media has designed, among other things, a DJ-centric site for Bacardi (speaking of Bacardi and music, we've been wondering if Bacardi gets a commission every time a rapper rhymes their product with 'party'). You know those web design companies that look like they'd be a lot of fun to work for, if only you were as insanely talented as the people already working for them? Yeah, well, this is one of them. That's why they've got the exclamation point right there in their name.... More
