"We Make Lives Better Through Music" is the dogma driving Big Foote Music and Sound. For this company, created and driven by musicians, their website reflects their DIY underground roots, yet still conveys a sense of prestige that the company has been building throughout the years. The nice abstract dithering and minimal design helps us focus on the product... which is made for our ears, and only our ears... which really isn't true because their audio work for film, movies, commercials, and TV has been heard by probably more people than you could shake a stick at... in the woods... alone. Ya' hear?... More
An interesting portfolio site for illustrator Mark Shepherd. His work is a mix of collage-like graphic pieces, that includes illustration, graphic design and also audio, with his project, "cold_elf" sounds. The portfolio has a nice woodsy kitsch backdrop, yet in a contrast with (or perhaps because of) his somewhat rural design style and tastes, it is fused with sensible interactive elements, buttons and navigation. For us, everything about the site is warm, tasteful and inviting and the style lends itself well to the fusion of work found inside. (We even liked the entry page solution, and did not hate the pop-up in this instance of the site design). A pleasure to visit and explore.... More

Hatfarm is a well rounded music production company creating audio for commercials, theatre, film, and dance. Hatfarm has collaborated with, and developed music and sound design for: Showtime, Adidas, MS Society, AMC, Ecko, Footlocker (UK) among others. We liked that Hatfarm produces a wide range of styles and musical ideas, and the music of Hatfarm may include: acoustic instruments, electronics, field recordings, samplers, out of tune pianos, and childrens toys. The music is not limited to genre, loops or sound libraries but instead, consists of music that is modern, innovative, and unique.... More
What is that sound? The sound of ONE, as designed by Monolab (link). In a signature illustrated style, the ONE site for a music production agency creates a night atmosphere in an urban landscape. It's not about being complex. It's about creating a mood. Monolab designed, mono colored, but never monotone. You hear?... More
Clicks, pings, whrrs, and a slightly challenging interface... Otra Design makes us feel like we're not quite on the same planet as when we started this journey. And that's a good thing. Too many websites try to make you feel like you're in a modern minimal winterland or reading a slick print newspaper, and we often forget that we're still surfing the same cyber world as envisioned in the cyberpunk sub-genre created in William Gibson's novel Neuromancer. Well, Otra - meaning Other - reminds us again that the Internet is still digital and dark and difficult. And while exploring this cyber dream world - use the strange octopus plant to navigate - we discover that creator Jozias Dawson is a designer with his own particular vision. Strong in Flash and digital illustrations, we also should bring attention to his 200 plus sounds made for Flash and web designers. Great original... More
Wevie Sound Design, or the audio portfolio of Alan Boorman, has a very simple, but old school interface that reminds us of early technological instruments. Rightfully so, as music is the oldest art discipline... and Alan uses todays electronic devices to make an interesting array sounds and effects with a rough and cut edge that feels neither new nor old....
