Wrecked

Refinement is close to Godliness. And every once in a while - and it's usually the indy portfolios - we find something that's rubbing elbows with perfection: Get Wrecked with the work of Gabriel Rubin. Showcasing lots of photo illustrations, mostly in websites for films and video games. Great stuff.... More

Wilkerton

WilkertonWe had to dip to the old Digitalthread to find out that we first posted up Ben W. Tousley's portfolio back when he was only 17 years old in 2004! Now a ripe 20, Ben sends us a notice of an update of new works... and we can't say we are at all disappointed. In fact, more impressed than ever that this tidy graphic designer has found his own niche in creating some strong promotional and print designs for music bands, with the occasional poster thrown in. Great, clean typography and nice decorative illustrations.... More

Upnorth

UpnorthUpnorth is a duo of designers by the names of Steve Green and Justin Kay... Currently based in New York City, but once hailing from the bitter north of Wisconsin, Upnorth blends clean graphics and original typography into designs which have been inspired by a rich history of skateboarding, Black Sabbath and the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers. Upnorth publishes the online 'zine Oneonenine, but the two are probably more well known for their work designing and art directing Marc Ecko's trendsetting print magazine Complex (Internal Link). Cruising through this simple site is like skateboarding by a splattered wall of fun graphic designs and street stickers.... More

Trozo Studio

Trozo StudioTrozo is the personal creative studio of Eduardo Valdivieso, an Italian living in Los Angeles, who produces some very strong print and web design work. His skills span art direction, print design, illustration and animation... Kind of like a modern day renaissance man (and we're not just saying tha because he has roots in Italy), Eduardo really does have the ability to create a range of different styles—from distressed and "arty"... to clean, and "Microsofty".... TNOP

TNOPTnop Wangsillapakun – the man with one of the most unique names in design – has struck out to make a (new) name for himself... He has truly gone off the deep end and commited himself to focus on his bePOS|+|VE design studio, as well as do more of experimental and conceptual design work that he really enjoys. Formerly a senior designer with Carlos Segura at Segura, Inc. (Chicago), Tnop is originally from Bangkok, Thailand, and was schooled in the States at the Savannah College of Art and Design. His unique work and experimental print designs definitely put him at the forefront of today's contemporary artists and designers.... More

Thunk Inc.

Thunk Inc.In the past, comforting, rounded fonts and a palette of cozy colors were the touchstones of Thunk's projects... But these days, in addition to logos & labels – and a small assortment of Flash motion graphics and interface designs – clients choose Thunk when they want to work with a studio that understands marketing goals and advertising power. And recently (with strategic design, marketing, and advertising solutions in mind) they helped create a new "event-focused" website redesign for AIGA San Francisco.... More

The Rock Collection

The Rock CollectionYou know you're a talented graphic designer when you create a 3-page website, plaster in a bunch of huge jpeg samples of your work, and don't even bother to put in a back button. It's like... who needs a website with navigation when the work speaks for itself... and your browser has a 'back' button embedded in it anyway? Well, this is one of those special occasions where it truly doesn't matter, because in the personal portfolio of Philippe Richardson, the illustration work and stills of broadcast commercials (some with Quicktime movies) will blow you away, and you won't even notice you're sitting at your desk anymore, much less which direction you want to navigate (besides simply scrolling up and down... over and over and over again).... Spinach and Salami

Kirill Mazin is the designer behind Spinach and Salami - a multi-disciplinary studio specializing in packaging, branding and signage along with the usual print and web work. An updated portfolio is "coming soon" but the projects currently on view are a nice mix of traditional style blended with fresh colors and an excellent use of photography. Tidy and tame with just a hint of free-spirit.... More

Skwiot Smith

Skwiot Smithskwiot/smith is a small graphic art and design studio based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The work revolves around a smattering of many projects - from print, identity and collateral materials to CD designs, books, posters and websites. Essentially, this is a one person studio, and skwiot/smith is actually Peter Skwiot Smith... which tells us a little about the artist himself: He enjoys producing minimal, yet beautiful abstract works that are sprinkled with a distinct esoteric quality.... Silo Design

Silo DesignPerhaps the antithesis of Flash slickness. Silo Design is a two person team (A combination of Nordic and Swedish) with a very understated portfolio site, hosting a plethora of good work. Low on managerial overhead, and high on the appreciation of nature: gardening, snowboarding, scuba diving, travel and knitting... An awarded powerhouse team produces some very strong identity and print design.... More

Sebastian Chevrel

Sebastian ChevrelWe hereby forgive Mr. Chevrel for referring to himself as a “creative technologist”—his portfolio is a tightly orchestrated display of his programming skills and artistic ventures. His work focus is around information management and the design of data structures for cultural institutions and the entertainment industry. A lot of the time this leads to the creations of cool charts and maps – but is also expressed in his own brand of technology based alternative art, which is complex, yet thoroughly interactive....
