Espeluzland

EspeluzlandIt's not often in these days of clean, corporate CSS that you find completely wacky off-the-wall web sites that promote art, and actually are art at the same time. Enter Espeluzland! With it's weird and wonderful viral, dripping, decomposing framework that houses some beautifully decaying illustrations and art... Explore, and be rewarded with some kind of nasty art-born virus... Otherwise known as the disease of creativity!... More

FAILE

FAILEIf you're not familiar with his work, FAILE is one of the modern day gods of the half-tone dot, stencil art, and gritty pop-culture graphics—and we were ecstatic to discover this website covering his unique multimedia designs. Done up like a sort of yellow pages ads on LSD, FAILE's many projects pick up where Andy Warhol left off... Prints, stencils, screenprints, and videos that resemble a street art-inspired cross between CONCRETE TV (MNN) and the Cartoon Network run through a photo copier. There's just too many gems in his site to list here, but let's say: clicking around will be heavily rewarded. For us, beyond a doubt, one of the best sites and artists of the year.... More

finemagazine

finemagazineVery fine! This promotional web-zine and artists forum has one of most pleasant and intuitive interfaces ever to grace the 'Thread. The content was originally supposed to be updated bimonthly making this magazine a truly worthwhile skulking ground, but actually, it was more of a promotional piece that helped launch Kioken's two lead designers into leadership of an established and still profitable firm in 2000. This site is no longer updated.... More

Firehouse735 Condominium

Like a good old-fashioned 'block' party (but minus the grill), this web site uses lots of squares of information in a colorful design, while using Flash to elegantly warp and transform the grid on each different page. With a limited amount of content, the site does a good job at balancing the building’s rich past (built in 1880) and the neighborhood’s soulful character with the sleek and modern residences inside. The design team used subdued, matte colors to showcase both the sunlit interior shots and the charming photos of Firehouse 735 as it once was in past times to appeal to an up-and-coming neighborhood in Brooklyn, Prospect Heights. Quite nice.... More

History of Parliment

History of ParliamentFrom Kings and Queens right down to Ministers, Members, and all their Yea's and Nea's, this rightfully clean and proper site covers a very comprehensive research project: The History of Parliment creates an account of parliamentary politics in England, then Britain, from their origins way back in the 13th century. Unparalleled in the comprehensiveness of its treatment, the History is generally regarded as one of the most ambitious, authoritative and well-researched projects in British history. This site gives you an overview of the entire project and some behind-the-scene insights.... More

Hollywoodland

Hollywoodland: Frank Lloyd WrightA beautiful and simple minimalist tribute to a set of five Los Angeles homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in the 1920's. These designs of his, defined by the concrete brick work, are simply summed up - not with so many words - but with a series of full-screen photographs... the remainder of the inpretation is up to you....
