This site for the 10 year old record label (started by David Byrne of Talking Heads fame) began by compiling and promoting native Brazilian "pop" music. Luaka is a paradise of textured wonders, effusing and busting with the vibrant colors and feelings of the South American and Spanish musical peoples. The range of Spanish flavors live on through more musical additions, and through the wonderfully textured and uninhibited design presented in the site. The iconography is excellent, and the variety of designs, for instance, in the "All Our Disks" area, is stupendous. The site deftly illustrates the richness of the label and the music.... More
An impressive interactive design concept supported by excellent functionality: this is one of the first 4.0 generation sites that really delivers - concept, visuals, sound, interactivity + variety. The website design plays on the phrase "you can't see the forest for the trees." Individual artists were each commissioned to do an interactive interpretation of a particular track for the Dreamworks album without knowing what the other participants were doing, or how it would all come together.
