Teatr Muzyczny

Teatr Muzyczny (Musical Theater)A very dark and distressed promotional site for a musical theater company in Poland. This site shows how it really takes a number of elements coming together in harmony to make a great online presentation. We were very impressed with the full screen "slicing" Flash transitions, minimal use of colors, grainy diffused photos and solid type treatments. Even if you don't understand Polish, you can have a good experience just from flipping through these large page designs using a very easy to understand navigation. Dark and dramatic!... More

Spychaser

SpychaserA showcase of branding, Spy merges 3-Com network products into an online spy story. This site is no longer active. For a tight frames site with impeccable navigation, Spychaser can't be beat. It's tough for the site to really capture your attention for long, but the branding experience is worthwhile. This promo site is down since this posting.... More

Smashstatusquo

SmashstatusquoMore than just one site, these designed marketing vehicles for Adobe's suite of development tools are great interactive 'mini-sites'. These sites dazzle and amaze with rich-media, dynamic movement, animations and novel navigational interfaces. Smash showcases with a 4-Quadrant navigation, while Defy takes you through a linear walk-through of a ground-up development of Defy itself with it's 'reverse deconstruction' metaphor for the design. Adobe recently released a third such promo-site featuring more of the same with a slightly more hip & digital design - to market to even younger users, Splatterpunk.com. However all three of these sites are now long gone. No one likes to keep nice classic designs up anymore.... More

Sm:)e comm

Sm:)e commSimplicity evokes a wealth of ideas, as displayed by this single page minimalist intro to a web design firm. The inside is also subdued, but we just loved this front page. Smile Comm's entry page utilizes principles of Swiss grid graphic design without losing it's objective strength and interest. It also loads fast, which puts a double-smile on our face. The site has changed since this posting.... More

Screams across the web

Screams across the webThis emotive wonder was created last year for Lycos's Halloween Hot Picks. It's a conceptual wonder - fine textures and subtle movements evoke fear among surfers of the web! A spooky conceptual demo created last Holloween (1996) by Entropy8 for Lycos. The design treatment combines script type and some early English type to create an antique, gothic feel.... More

Rusta Media

Rusta MediaIn order to sell airtime on SABC channels leading up to the Cricket World Cup Show, media planners are shown the shocking media options they'll get stuck with if they don't book with the SABC. In this brilliant illustrated collage design of a non-existent Caribbean media company's website, media buyers explore the dodgiest media solutions ever, reinforcing the need to book with the national broadcaster before they run out of options. Touting everything from branded coconuts, bongs, to spray-painted goats and fishing boat billboards (locations cannot be confirmed)—the results of this hilarious campaign exceeded sales target by over 250% – with 40% more hits than targeted on launch day and an average of over 1400 hits per month (from a maximum pool of only 750 media planners). Outstanding, functional, funny and also a beautifully illustrated collage design. And don't forget to check the Terms & Conditions.... More

Rexona | Action City

Rexona | Action CityAlthough we've all seen 3D immersive sites before, some of the newest breed take it to an uncommonly high level of detail. Take for example the Rexona (also know as Degree deodorant in the U.S.) "Action City" site, which takes its cue from a very popular stunt man TV commercial produced in 2006. It has 3D graphics rivaling next-generation video games, but due to the medium, contains only 1% of the actual full-environmental funtionality—which truthfully, given the medium, is quite an accomplishment. That being said, don't miss the mini-game and the many little hidden clickables. Overall, an A+ for gratuitous graphics.... More

Renamo

RenamoRenamo is a tight and tidy little site for a UK marketing company. The firm was recently re-branded with a military theme and this site extends that brand online. The typography is well thought out (although it could be a little more readable) and the individual design concepts - using field reports and a topographic map navigation - all work together to reflect a style of "street-level" marketing.... Playb3yond

Playb3yondIt's not often when the future of a major music and entertainment company like Sony rests on the release of a single product. So when you debut two new technologies in one gaming system and sell it for a $400 loss in hopes of making billions down the road... Yup! Sounds like the perfect reason to blow even more money on an extravagant, animated web advertisement - complete with Captain Kirk voice overs! Sadly, at the end of 15 minutes, the site is ultimately an expensive, 3-D marketing brochure with lots of glitz and no interactive substance (somehow, Shatner specialties). However, it also makes us salivate for the very latest in high-definition gaming and graphics. Sony is drawing deep into its brand loyalty cachet and they are betting it all on this console's success. It shows in this high-end video production, but where's the web2.0 love?... More

Philips Dynamic Lighting

Philips Dynamic LightingHere's an interesting site (we missed) that launched back in 2005... Remote controlled, dynamic lighting—an advanced lighting solution that brings the rythmic fluctuations of daylight into the working environment. Dynamic Lighting is something you install into your home or office that alternates between blends of cool and warm light to create a stimulating (or soothing) ambience, based upon the time of day, or your own preferences. It's a really interesting technology, and this clean, sky-tones-on-white website has all the right demos and diagrams to communicate the concept with the utmost clarity.... More

Outsource Corporation

Outsource CorporationWith small-town theme music pumping an atmosphere of serenity through your headphones, the Outsource Corporation uses basic Sim-like icon illustrations to seal their sophisticated outsourcing services. The animated rep attempts to sell the service, but untimely quips about premature baldness and other random facts distract from an already complicated plan. Nevertheless, Outsource offers an amusing effort for a pedestrian service proposal.... More
