Novalux

NovaluxNovalux creates something called NECSEL, a unique laser technology that is slated to be the future of projection displays. And in this modern-looking site, we are presented with very clear demonstration of this revolutionary product and it's benefits - while also getting a company breakdown for those interested in the people behind the technology. It's a wonderfully spacious site that conveys both the product, message and insider information all in one branded package. From the typography, to the layout and through all the custom 3D motion demonstrations, each element of the site is top-notch and attractively built.... More

Nestea Ice

Nestea IceFeaturing funny animated clip-art, flourishes and purely mystical landscapes, the immersive Nestea Ice site comes off as a funky cross falling somewhere between Monthy Python and an animated version of the North Pole on Zoloft. Currently hosted live only on Juxt's site, this fantasy world of Nestea Ice hopefully lives on—it's a perfect case-study of a dream design for any illustration and interactive Flash animation team.... MTV

MtvThe web face for MTV in 1997. Great design combined with JavaScript activity made the site feel like a rich media CD-rom. There even was a 'caffinated' version if you could handle the wait - which at that time helped bring down the site for good. As visually rich as the TV interstitials, you could find a wealth of original designs and gimmicks all across the entire site. This site still needs changes. Originally the design was so graphically heavy that MTV was forced to create a lighter redesign as early as late 1997. Since then the design has been hovering in a political identity purgatory. With so many various interests and off-shoots, it's no wonder the MTV site is such a hard beast to tame. We still look forward to any new developments and hope to see a great redesign resolution occur, but we're not holding our breath. See... More

Motorazr Dolce & Gabbana

Motorazr Dolce & GabbanaA pure promotional showcase, this site presents the new Dolce & Gabbana co-branded Motorola Razor V3i phone. Done up in a kind of gilded-orange tone with DG logos, the phone also comes with a few similarly tricked-out gold accessories. Overall, the site is fairly straight-forward - obviously geared to the youth market - and although you can't stop the background music, it has a certain flair that complements the design of the phone. Written in Italian and created for the Italian market.... More

Morimoto Restaurant

Morimoto Restaurant NYCAn exceptional restaurant and celebrity chef (Starr Restaurants) deserves a modern Flash site with sharp transitions, perfect execution and appetizing presentation. The "flavor profiles" of this design tantalize the user to explore the aesthetic and gastronomic qualities of the restaurant in this full-screen Flash presentation. Check out the menu and tour sections where tasty transitions make it feel like the site is being diced and sliced for your dining pleasure.... More

American Express funds $2.5 Million to 5 user-selected projects addressing everything from environmental issues to education, community development to health. Meaningful content drives great design, as shown in the clear and crisp layout of this altruistic project. London 2012 Olympics Brand

London 2012 Olympics BrandThe bright and colorful (and hotly debated) new logo for the London 2012 Olympics brand designed by Wolf Ollins makes a bold statement with its release last week. While some stalwart UK news critics are up in arms (notably the Sun and Independent) and designers are being polarized from coast to coast, some of the brand messaging is lost in the public's initial gut reaction to the logo. It's actually quite a positive message of inclusion, fair play, and interaction — even welcoming people to download the logo template and design their own variations (hint, hint, 'threadsters.) Personally, we're for anything that stirs up this much debate and interest in graphic design... and additionally any logo that has been described as both "new rave", a "toilet monkey" and looks like a graffiti mural gets our vote! Finally, since no one can quite decide what the logo is, or whether it will... More

Kids Ro Foundation branding

Kids Ro Foundation brandingAs some people may know Rosie O'Donnell recently returned to TV (today) as a host of The View. You may not know that since being off TV, Rosie has put her energy into a bunch of charities for kids... Why is that interesting to web designers? Well, because behind the scenes FDTDesign has crunch released 3 sites with an all new Rosie branding, custom font and logos... and the following 3 URLs show this great branding design spread through 3 different sites. First: Rosie's Shop (http://shop.rosie.com/), Second: For All Kids Foundation (http://www.forallkids.org/), and finally, Third: Rosie's Broadway Kids (http://www.rosiesbroadwaykids.org/). We love the bright colors, big photo images and the scratchy style utilized through all 3 sites in a coordinated branding effort. Great results.... More

just for the F of it

just for the F of itJust another really sick animated Flash music site from our falafel-eating, funky-faced, far out friend, Todd Purgason. But this time it's different - this time the site ain't anything you've seen before. So figure out what the hell a fugly fairy really is, and even torch her with a bow and flaming arrow by a belligerent french ferret. And hey, there's cool Easter egg stuff to download, like free MP3s from some bands, and a blog by Mark Hoppus. Did we forget to mention this was a site for Fuse TV? Have fun!... More

Island Creek Oyster Bar

Island Creek Oyster BarEating out is never so much fun as when you travel and dine, exploring new locations and sea-side destinations. So, whether you are near to this Boston locale, or dropping in from points West, you get the feel here of a fast, and easy, "on-to-go" sort of location. Fundamental to this experience is the idea is that they bring the restaurant to the farmer. Neat concept. Neat execution. Great experience.... More

isea97

isea97The Inter-society for the Electronic Arts employs a riveting metallic print design for their 8th Annual Symposium on Electronic Art. The conference is one of the most significant events in the global electronic arts calendar, and this site lends a wealth of credibility to that claim. The event has come to represent a key international forum for debate, discussion, exchange, critique and celebration of electronic art. Staged in a different world city each year, its presentation in Liverpool and Manchester this coming 1998 represents the first time that Britain has hosted this prestigious cultural event. This partcular design is no longer online since this posting.... More
