MetaDesign > ReDesign
Well... the only popular clean design site that wasn't redesigned by now (except ours of course) has finally done it... So, now what do we do?
Happy Halloween all!
Fire, damnation, and the change of seasons into Winter - such a lovely menagerie of ideas to play with. Combine it with War, Famine, Death, & Pestilence... and you have... the 4 Horsemen on Halloween.

One of the coolest clocks we've ever seen... Now, can we shrink this and put it in the upper right hand corner of our site?

Lauri Eriksson Photography
Oh yea... A real hot take on foraging for images... Great colors. Great concept. The photos are a nice blend of natural scenes and young people's portraits. Designed by Mongrel Associates (one of the hottest hybrid companies we've seen in a while).

Pop-out illustrations...
Just updated and highlighted with extra bold, popping illustrations, this tight 'folio has a great overall style and reveals a nice blend of computer generated illustration techniques. (From the founder of Surfstation).
Micro Shimano... Macro fun.
A micro site created to promote Shimano's new XTR top of the line component system. Get stoked on this dark, active flash presentation by Todd P. of Juxt Interactive.

Back to the user...
Another week means another new issue on User-Centered Design. Featuring an article titled, "Back to the User: Creating User-Focused Websites". Sounds important.

pre emptive strike 2002
Freakin' hot interface. The found 'folio of Simian creator breathes some new ideas into the web. Makes you wonder where all the thinkers have been... looks like he caught us with a pre emptive strike (2002).
New Font Foundry...
Nothing much in this world gets us harder or wetter than discovering a new font foundry... especially one where the freebies are possibly even better than the paysies.
'ice one...
Quite the creative bit of self-promotion, this indy 'folio wih flat minimal design comes off looking great, but with it's mini-size type and occasionally difficult interface, is mainly geared towards other power users. Therefore... you'll love it.
illustrated doodles
If you like the fine arts... line drawings... girls... illustrations... and fantasy... then you'll love Olofsdotter, a beaucoup fantastic little realm for a Swedish designer living in Chicago. We particularly loved the fine details and the fanciful flash loader.
{Super secret alert}
Building a war room in your closet? Been watching CNN so much, Rumsfeld is still there when you close your eyes? Then capitalize on this new Free font from Asif Khan.

Pinpin Lelapin
We thought the little rabbit alone was worth the price of admission. And then we saw the interior interface sculpted around the video game concept of Mario Brothers meets FuriFuri land. Wow factor: 10. Pinpin Lelapin.
Department 3, Flashed.
An old fave of ours (see: Designhaus) has launched a flash version of their site. Clean. Simple. Effective.

Just click it: Vitaflo.

Can you guess which one uses porn images? Do you care?
These bizarrely cute misfit creatures are right up the alley of Japans and Chinas art audience, where Pete Fowler has just hit it big. And rightfully so! You just can't help but want one for your collection... even if all you collect is stamps.
While we're at it... why not go all the way with the flat illustrated style and use it in video motion? Surely, this fantastic design organization, "Psychological Operations", can light the way. We especially liked 'Come Brazil'.

This '2000' design group hits some truly hot notes, baking together flat illustrated designs for album covers, prints and tee's that blend together post-pop art painting with a pinch of porn, russian avant-garde and 60's psychedelia. Perfect!

Asif Khan, Graphic Design.
Don't call me a trend-setter. Because the best part of this 'folio is that range of styles defies any possible attachment to a recent movement. Unless you consider 'originality' the latest trend... which you should...
